The Job



The Fleet Management Department is recruiting for Motor Pool Assistants who ensure that vehicles dispatched are properly maintained, which includes filling vehicles with fuel, installing floor mats and license plates, adding fluids, washing and vacuuming, inspecting vehicles to detect damages, re-parking cars to maximize use of space and maintain lot order.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
Background: Incumbents must successfully complete a background check prior to appointment.
Physical:  Incumbents must be physically able to lift 50 pounds, regularly required to stand, walk, hear, reach with hands; frequently required to stoop, kneel and crouch.  Employees work outside and are able to work consistent and predictable as determined by business conditions and management.
Shift: Incumbents may be required to work day, evening, or night shifts, to meet departmental needs, as required to the Department.
License: Must possess a valid California Class C driver license at time of hire.  Indicate CA license number, class, and expiration date on the application and supplemental questionnaire.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Applicants must meet one of the following options:

Option 1: Six (6) months of experience dispatching vehicles or equipment and working with records.

-OR-

Option 2: Six (6) months of experience servicing vehicles, including lot porter and working with records.

Desired Qualifications

Computer skills are highly desirable.

Selection Process

Online Exam: An online exam will be administered which will consist of an evaluation of knowledge and skills in the following topics:
  • Fleet Operations
  • Recordkeeping
  • Arithmetic
  • Safety
  • Customer Service
