Garland City Council Welcomes New and Returning Members
On May 16, Garland City Council swore-in two new and two returning members. Mayor Douglas Athas was re-elected for this third and final term. Re-elected District 7 Council Member Scott LeMay also will serve his third and final term. Joining Council this year is newly elected District 6 Council Member Robert Vera and newly elected District 8 Council Member Robert John Smith. Engage Garland Survey: Interstate 30 Corridor
The City of Garland needs your input! Residents are encouraged to provide their thoughts about the I-30 corridor area by taking a five-question survey at EngageGarlandTX.mysidewalk.com. The survey ends May 31. Call 9725-205-2460 with any questions. We appreciate your feedback.
Texas Coalition for Animal Protection: May Neuter Special

Apply to Serve on the Texas Municipal Power Agency Board of Directors
The City of Garland is accepting applications for a seat on the Board of Directors for the Texas Municipal Power Agency. The two-year term will expire June 30, 2019. Interested persons must reside in Garland and own taxable property. Applications will be accepted through June 6.
Fight the Bite!
The Garland Health Department reminds residents to protect themselves against mosquito-borne illnesses by limiting outdoor activity during evening and early morning hours, and wearing light-colored, long-sleeve clothing while outdoors. Remember also to eliminate any standing water on your property as this is where mosquitoes lay eggs. Learn about mosquito surveillance at GarlandTX.gov.

City of Garland Named 2017 Playful City USA
National nonprofit KaBOOM! has honored the City of Garland with a Playful City USA designation for the second consecutive year. Playful City USA honors cities and towns across the country for putting the needs of families first so kids can learn, grow and develop important life skills. The 2017 Playful City USA recognition includes 258 communities across the country that make it as easy as possible for kids to play.

Graduation Traffic Reminder 
Through July, Garland ISD's Curtis Culwell Center, 4999 Naaman Forest Blvd., will host graduations for many area educational institutions. Motorists can stay aware of potential traffic congestion with this graduation schedule and map.
