This week’s episode of the Australian version of The Amazing Race takes place in Israel.
As one of my Australian-based Twitter friends wrote:
Wow, The Amazing Race would have me believe that Israel is just sexy half-naked people playing ball sports on beautiful beaches. Let’s go?
And:
Sexy people with guns on beaches? I’m so there!!
Next week’s episode also takes place in Israel, so I’ll be sure to post those videos as well.
…. they stopped for coffee?!
Anybody wants to see where I live (well, part of it) look at the second one. We're by the port all of the time, at our train station. Next to it is a naval base (open once a year to the public) and a grain museum (yes, a grain museum).
Our train station is called center – the eight – after the eight workers who were hit by a missle at the railway shed. (People could see it here from their porches.) There is a plaque there, and on the anniversary they has eight candles lit.
I guess that was the station showed briefly at the start.
Why do they always refer to the airport, even in the initials – as "Tel Aviv"? It's not even in Gush Dan, barely in Lod. Then again, they refer to Dulles as in Washington.
Where is the scene where the driver tries to make a deal to take them directly to Haifa? Or they could have them take a Sherut and wait all night for it to fill up (Haifa only).
I would assume commercial considerations are at the heart of these designations. Dulles is located in the far x-burbs of Washington, DC in Northern Virginia. Likewise, one of the airports servicing Orlando, FL is actually 50 miles away in Sanford. Marginal savings in air fare to these less convient airport locations can be more than eaten up by expensive ground transportation options.
I am an Israeli citizen. I love Israel with all my heart
Israel is my home, You are welcome here all the time
Israel wants peace, We’d love to have you here
And show you how beautiful Israel
I love Israel
Thank you Australia chose to come to Israel as part of the amazing race!!!! 🙂
