Affected products

This recall involves American Angler Electric Fillet Knives. The EFK is an electric fillet knife designed for filleting fish. The product has either an orange and black handle with a stainless steel 8-inch (20 cm) freshwater blade or a gray and black handle with a titanium-coated 8-inch (20 cm) freshwater blade.  

The affected products are identified by model number 32300 and the following serial numbers:

  • AEK-OBDS-003-1
  • AEK-OB-DS-008-1
  • AMK-KM-DS-003-1
  • AEK-OB-RB-004-1

The model number is printed on the base of the handle of the EFK. The serial number is printed on the packaging of the EFK.

Issue

The trigger mechanism on some American Angler Electric Fillet Knife (“EFK”) units can become stuck in the “on” position, posing a potential laceration hazard.

As of December 17, 2021, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 23 reports of the trigger mechanism becoming stuck in the “on” position. No injuries have been reported to the company.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the EFK, unplug the unit, and cut the power cord. Contact Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands for a free replacement.
