Welcome to the Flowerona Newsletter

Firstly, many apologies for the lack of newsletter last month...it was a little crazy!!!

I hope you enjoy reading this month's newsletter.

Pastel winter blooms...

When I think about winter, it's easy to fall into the habit of assuming that flower arrangements have to be white or red and include silver or gold.

But I recently came across these stunning floral designs below on Art with Nature's blog.

In the left bouquet, pastel ranunculus blooms have been combined with amaryllis, poppies and roses.
And the design on the right is a very simple posy of ranunculus.

So, why not choose pastel flowers for a change this winter?

Add Colour to your Home with Spring Bulbs

Back in March, I visited a wonderful hotel and found the hyacinth arrangement on the left below in the bathroom.

When I spotted a similar shaped ceramic dish in a local charity shop a few months later, I just had to buy it.

Then, at the end of November, I bought some white hyacinth bulbs whilst I was in Ikea.

At the weekend, I potted up the bulbs with compost, moss (which I found at the bottom of our garden!) and a few birch twigs.  It's didn't take me more than ten minutes and was so simple to do...

Award-winning cafe at The Garden Museum

I recently visited the Garden Museum in London.  I'd been meaning to go there for a little while and I was even more keen when I heard that their cafe had won an award!

So, I met up with a friend there in October.
And I can highly recommend the cakes in the cafe!

We sat inside as it was a little chilly, but when the weather is warm, there's a lovely area to sit outside.

If you do visit, I highly recommend that you pop into their shop too.

Here are some of my photos...

Seasonal Flowers & Foliage

In the shops at the moment, you'll find amaryllis in white, red, burgundy and peach.  Spring flowers are also available such as tulips, narcissi, hyacinths, ranunculus and anemones.  And you'll find spring bulbs potted up.

Talking of plants, poinsettias and cyclamen are in abundance.  Don't forget to look out for sparkly twigs and pussy willow too...

Blog of the Month

This month's blog of the month is called Decor8.  It's a very popular design blog and is written by Holly Becker, an American lady living in Germany.

Holly started Decor8 over seven years ago and now 48,000 people read it every day!

I adore Decor8, the tone of Holly's writing and her images.  Below is a little collage from a recent blog post she wrote.  And here's a link to the blog post.
