HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Three local businesses are in an all out battle this week... a battle against hunger.

Caliente Grille, Click Boutique, and The Keg and Barrel, are participating in the Chow Down, Show Down. It's a competition to collect as many canned goods as possible, with a winner crowned at noon this Friday.

Each of these local businesses is offering incentives to customers who bring in canned goods this week. This includes 20% off jewelry at Click, a free can of beer with three can food donations at The Keg and Barrel, and free chips and queso at Caliente.

"What we've done, as all of our customers bring in the food that we are going to donate to Christian Services on Friday, we are actually get them evaluated and give a dollar for dollar evaluation from Extra Table," explained Charles Arinder, owner of Caliente Grille. "They are gonna tell us exactly how much we are going to match to give back. So we are gonna double the donation and give it to Christian Services."

"The Extra Table" will announce a winner on their Facebook page Friday. They are a non-profit organization, founded by Robert St. John, that helps supply mission pantries and soup kitchens with food. More information can be found at www.extratable.org
