The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Behavioral Health Workforce Education & Training Manager* to oversee the diverse and complex workforce services for a comprehensive staff development recruitment and retention program. This is a key position assisting the Department Director or Deputy Director in establishing, implementing and monitoring effectiveness of the overall coordination of workforce education and training programs or activities, establishment and implementation of training and development policies and procedures, and obtaining/maintaining statewide, regional, and local partnerships.
 
The Workforce Education & Training Unit oversees and coordinates the clinical intern program and volunteer services, which includes non-clinical interns; training needs for the department, including the Electronic Health Record; healthcare provider shortage area certifications; and recruitment and retention strategies, including hiring fairs, loan forgiveness and assumption programs, and staff morale and appreciation. Workforce Education & Training also works with Medical Services to coordinate medical and nursing students and medical residents.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 

Background Investigation:  Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation and verification of employment history and education.

Travel: County and State travel may be required and employees will be required to make provision for such transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Organizational Development, Communication, Social/Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts, Public/Business Administration, or a closely related field.

-AND-

Experience: Three (3) years professional-level administrative or management experience developing and presenting education and training curricula and performing operational, organizational, and program analysis; A minimum of one (1) year of experience must be in a health setting, preferably in behavioral health.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in one of the listed fields, have program development and project management experience, excellent oral and written communication skills with the aptitude to effectively coordinate and confer with groups and individuals of various levels, and the ability to build a team that provides results with a customer service focus. Behavioral health experience and knowledge, including the role of peers in the workforce, is highly desirable.
