Detroit Pistons' Brandon Knight (7) grimaces after being injured as he drives to the basket in the first quarter during an NBA basketball game against the Utah Jazz Monday, March 11, 2013, in Salt Lake City.

SALT LAKE CITY – Brandon Knight probably would like to start this week over. After watching his name become fodder for TV pundits and social media because he was victimized by Clippers center DeAndre Jordan's violent dunk, Knight had to leave tonight's game against the Jazz after injuring his left ankle.

The injury occurred at the 8:28 mark of the first quarter. Knight tried to drive to the basket against the defense of Jazz guard Randy Foye when he took an awkward step on the ankle.

He immediately fell to the floor, clutching the ankle. After receiving aid on the floor, he was helped to the locker room, but he couldn't put weight on the ankle.

He was fouled on the play, but as soon as he was unable to shoot the free throws, he was done for the evening.

The Pistons' initial diagnosis is a left ankle sprain. He did not return to the game. After the game, the team said X-rays showed Knight's ankle was not broken.
