Product description

This recall involves "Orient" brand brushes of various styles and includes 48 models bearing the codes BR00 to BR47. The products are packaged in a green and white plastic sleeve. The handle of the brush is dark green.

The brushes measure 15 cm to 17 cm, with a diameter that varies depending on the model. The recalled brushes are identified by the following UPC codes:

Hazard identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the paint on the brushes contain lead in excess of the allowable limit. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Neither Health Canada nor Ugarit, La Maison de l'Artisanat Inc. has received any reports of incidents or illnesses to Canadians related to the use of these brushes.

Number sold

Approximately 117,895 of the recalled brushes were sold at various stores across Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled brushes were sold from March 2011 to April 2013.
