OCO Graduating Seniors

Oaks Christian Online high school student Makena will be attending #UCDavis in September. She has not yet declared a major, but is excited to see what UC Davis can offer! She is possibly planning on majoring in Managerial Economics. She is excited to live in a smaller and more rural town. Also, she is planning on joining a club called the Outdoor Adventures Club where they take you white water rafting, hiking, and so much more.

Isabelle is another one of our online high school students; she is attending Seattle Pacific University and majoring in Music Therapy. She is excited to be somewhere new, since she has only been in California her whole life, to learn about things she is really passionate about, and to meet new people!

Andy is attending Biola in the fall and majoring in Film Production. Andy served as our student council chairman this year where he was able to lead the students in various social events to increase school spirit.

Back to School is August 10th

Don’t forget that full-time students go back to school on Monday, August 10th. This is a few weeks earlier for us, but it will allow students to take a full Christmas break and to be off a week earlier in the spring. Watch for your returning student packet this summer including a new student handbook and other fun information. We’re already planning an exciting 2015-2016 school year!

Christy Cleugh is Honored with Award from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

On May 29^th, Christy Cleugh, Oaks Christian Online High School Director of Curriculum Development and Operations, was selected as a top ten recipient for the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Education Excellence Award for private and parochial schools. The award is designed to recognize outstanding educators in private schools who go above and beyond, finding innovative ways to improve student achievement. The top awards will be announced the week of June 22^nd and at regional HMH conference. Christy has worked tirelessly with her online high school curriculum development team and talented Subject Matter Experts to build more than 60 unique, accredited and copyrighted Oaks courses such as Argumentation and American Ideology, American Sign Language, AP Physics 1, Chinese 4 and others. Dr. Scott Lisea Accepts Providence Head of School Position

Dr. Scott Lisea has graciously served as the Interim Head of School for Oaks Christian School during the 2014-2015 school year and has previously served as the Oaks Christian Executive Head of School for Spiritual Life. Dr. Lisea has recently been offered the position of Head of School at Providence School in Santa Barbara, CA. Providence School in Santa Barbara has recently merged with Santa Barbara Christian School into one pre-K-12 school, and Dr. Lisea has been asked to serve as the first Head of School to help them develop a new campus. Dr. Lisea will be sorely missed on our main campus and as an advocate for our online high school. Dr. Walker will join us as new Head of School in July of this year, and Dr. Jim Altizer will join us as the Interim Executive Head of School for Spiritual Life for the 2015-2016 school year.
