The Sheriff's Nurse Supervisor II for Adult Corrections reports to the Health Services Manager, under general direction will assist with the overall operation of a facility. Coordinates health services to correctional patients, supervises subordinate, and support staff at San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department detention facility, to include coordinates schedules and assignments, ensuring adequate coverage, and resolves staff schedule conflicts, and determines priorities for nursing services during peak periods, emergencies or staff shortage. Incumbents will perform administrative support assignments, ensure the quality of health services, coordinates and implements conformance of nursing activities, compliance of procedures, protocols, and guidelines, and is responsible to review and investigate inmate grievances. Reviews subordinates work, prepares work performance evaluations, work improvement plans, discipline, counsels staff, participates in the selection of staff, hiring, scheduling, and perform additional duties as required.

The resulting eligible list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future Sheriff's Nurse Supervisor II vacancies as they occur while the list remains active.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Background: Successful candidates must not have been convicted of a felony and must successfully pass a background investigation including a polygraph and fingerprint check. Physical Demands: Requires physical agility and mobility, hand dexterity, good vision and hearing; lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds. Working conditions involve exposure to infectious materials.
Travel: Travel throughout the County will be required. Incumbents are required to make a provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.

Minimum Requirements

License: Must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Nurse with the State of California.
 
-AND-

Experience:
One (1) year of experience as a registered nurse in a locked correctional facility performing full-scope supervisory duties such as hiring, firing, writing and signing work performance evaluations, and approving time off.
 

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an experienced correctional nurse with leadership experience, the ability to analyze data, develop and implement processes to improve outcomes and a passion for improving inmate healthcare.
