The Job

The Department of Public Health is recruiting for Supervising Health Services Assistants who plan and supervise the work of a group of Health Services Assistants and perform administrative duties as well as direct client services. In addition, this position will have a lead Health Services Assistant II assigned under their scope of supervision.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
Travel: Travel using a personal vehicle will be required; mileage reimbursement will be provided. At the time of hire and continuing throughout employment, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation. Travel throughout the county will be required, including travel to the high and low desert areas.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience assisting medical or health care professionals in providing health services in a public health setting - OR - Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience providing or assisting in the provision of health and health-related education in a classroom or public setting. 
 
Substitution: Successful completion of a medical assistant or certified nursing attendant program may substitute for six (6) months of the required experience. You must attach a high quality/legible copy of your program certificate to the application or email it to tina.richard@hr.sbcounty.gov, Subject Line: SHSA Certificate, prior to the filing deadline.

Desired Qualifications

Applicants with lead or supervisory experience are greatly encouraged to apply. 

A High School Diploma or G.E.D is strongly desired and required for positions in the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal/customer service skills, basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint), and knowledge of community resources as well as experience in working with the community, especially with pregnant/breastfeeding women, infants, and/or children.
