225 Press Play: England in 1819 – Preview two tracks from the band’s upcoming Fireball Electric Tomorrow

225‘s new feature Press Play gives you an exclusive listen to a local band’s latest songs before the release date.

After releasing two albums, hitting the road for a few tours, and getting more than 100,000 views on a wonderful music video for the track “Trophy Sixty-One,” Baton Rouge-based England in 1819 headed to North Carolina to record its third album.

Titled Fireball Electric Tomorrow, the album features 14 self-produced songs and is a step forward for the band, having been paired down from nine members to its core—the two brothers, Andrew and Dan Callaway.

England in 1819 is known for soaring choruses, operatic vocals and huge sounds. If ever someone needed music for climbing to the top of the mountain, this band has a soundtrack ready.

“Pine” is a surprising turn with an oscillating bass line and sparkling keyboard tones. Toward the one-minute mark, you hear that big break the band is known for.

“Lights” features a huge chorus and familiar loud-quiet-loud dynamics, then turns to a soaring, inspiring ending.

You can listen to both tracks below.

Fireball Electric Tomorrow will be available Aug. 27 on the group’s bandcamp page.

The band will perform next Friday in Baton Rouge Gallery’s Movies & Music on the Lawn series, providing a live soundtrack to Nosferatu. For more information on that performance, click here.
