Forget Fashion - Have Fun!

Reading posts by bloggers identifying gaps in their wardrobes, complaining they've nothing to wear and identifying what they need to see them through the forthcoming season is a constant source of fascination for me. I mean, what happens to the clothes they already own? Do they honestly disintegrate and have to be binned or, more likely, are these women simply bullied by the fashion pack into believing that their existing stuff is so outdated they'll be laughed out of town for daring to wear something that isn't deemed bang-up-to-the-minute?

I love clothes, I really do, but who wants to spend all their hard-earned cash on relentlessly keeping up with fashion? Life's for living - not for filling your wardrobe with this year's trends and investing in "classic wardrobe staples". Want a transitional piece to keep you going between seasons? Sod cashmere and squirrel print jumpers,

- stick a shawl on over your favourite frock and save your cash for a holiday.

Having no interest in fashion is so liberating. I simply buy what makes my knees go weak when I see it second-hand, be it a fake fur coat in August or a halter neck maxi dress in the depths of winter. There's no worrying about whether it'll still be in style by the time it comes round to wearing it - most of my wardrobe hasn't been in fashion for the last forty years.

A cupboard filled with clothes bought because they made my heart beat faster means I'm never bored of putting on the same old dress time and time again.

Footwear for A/W 2013? Pah! I've had some of these boots for years and, other than the silver platforms, every pair was bought second-hand (I'm a UK 7/40, I never have a problem finding footwear in my size). I get them re-heeled when necessary (my cobbler charges £3.50 a pair). Are they fashionable? Who cares? I wear them because I like them - not because someone told me a certain style was "in" this season.

These coats have been making regular appearances ever since I started blogging back in 2009, each one at least forty-five years old and in brilliant condition. There's no way I could afford to buy anything of comparable quality new, and why would I want to? They receive no end of compliments when I wear them. They're bright, they're fabulous and, being vintage, it's highly unlikely I'll ever bump into anyone wearing the same thing.

I have to cull my fake fur collection regularly as I keep finding something else that steals my heart.

Constantly buying new stuff is no good for the planet, your sanity or, let's face it, your bank balance. There's far more interesting things to spend your cash on...like having fun.

Talking of which, there's a blogger meet-up taking place in Birmingham this Saturday.
As usual it'll involve copious amounts of booze, gratuitous fondling of vintage clothing, raucous laughter, bad language and having a right old laugh.

Email me or Curtise if you want to join us.

  1. Your photos are full of colour, pattern and laughter - I absolutely adore all of your looks and the 'bugger mainstream fashion' attitude you rock.

You were the one blogger who inspired me to sod what everyone else thought and to start writing my own blog - thankyou! xxx

  2. You are like the voice of reason.
I am looking for a new coat and your pink coat just makes me go weak at the knees.
I keep getting put off because I feel as if I am limited to petite coats as normal clothes usually swamp me.
I think I will look for a great quality coat in the charity shop and get it altered.

  3. I like to know where the trend is in order to do what i want anyway, Lol.
We don´t neet to follow fashion. we are and create fashion every single day we dress.
I love you in that purple floaty dress, dear queen Vix.

  5. Awwww you always look so well turned out , I can barely dress myself right . Though my inner goth always creeps out of her closet from time to time

  6. Oh what I wouldn't give to join you all in Birmingham. I'll be having a drink and talking dirty in your honor(s). You know, Vix, most people don't have the confidence that you have. That is why they need to follow the trends. But the fashion industry loves insecure. It keeps the fashion machine chugging along. Love your crochet shawl.

  7. You always look stunning, Vix, whatever you wear. Though I do think you look particularly awesome in that floaty mauve frock.

I've just found a wonderful block-print tunic dress in a charity shop which was made in the UK (which means it must be at least 20 years old), fits a treat and makes me feel fabulous (no mean feat given my 'Amazonian' stature!!) I paid a fiver for it and am totally thrilled with my purchase. Am I likely to see anyone else in the same dress? - absolutely not. Am I going to see numerous people in the fox-face jumper currently being pedalled in our local Sainsbury's? - undoubtedly. No idea what the jumper retails for but I'm guessing a helluva lot more than a fiver.

  8. Ah ... each to their own - I'd rather have something that delights MY eye and suits ME rather than be on trend. And the thought of having something that everyone else is likely to have is just - no. If I ever do buy retail its straight in the dye bath :) I don't have gaps in my wardrobe - it is utterly crammed. I am trying to refine and keep the very best but its no good - I love all of it.

    Blogger meet-up sounds fabulous!

  9. Really, Vix, I just can't understand you. A woman your age, you should be wearing understated colours and styles, not trolloping about in all that mad vintage colour. Have you NO idea what's on-fucking-trend? Where's your everything-goes-with-everything-cos-it's-all-bloody-dull A/W capsule?
Boozing, being foul-mouthed and raucous, wearing maxis, faux fur, bonkers prints, and top hats? Really... I can identify a gap in your wardrobe, young lady - and it's beige. Get onto it, immediately.

    You're a disgrace.
    And I LOVE you!
    See you sooooooon! xxxxxxxxx

  10. I love your style and your confidence Vix and like a lot have said before not everyone has it which the fashion industry just loves.

I couldn't care less about fashion but if I do see stuff I like either second hand or in the shops then yeah if the cash is available I will buy it. And actually I quite love me the odd squirrel/fox print jumper but then I just love cute critters! lol. (not that I will be buying any)

Hope you all have a blast on Saturday let the good times roll.

  11. Well said Vix. I don't want a few things to mix and match that have cost an arm and a leg, I want lots of fabulous colour! We need the people that buy new each season because they throw out all their so called out of date things for us second hand sweeties to then buy for a pittance!!

  12. I shall wait for the awesome blog meet up pics - raucous, badly behaved and foul mouthed makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, wish I could be there,
the purple cape, lace up boots and extravagant faux fur are yummeh! and a top hat! I dream of a showgirl hat/thingy......oh yeah!! x x

  13. How i wish i was near Birmingham!!!

My "wish" list is stuff I WANT-- I could care less if it's in style or not. I want a black pinstripe skirt. Which evidently doesn't exist either thrifted, retail or in fabric!!

you look fabulous as always!! I do envy you that you can wear whatever you want!! My job unfortunately curtails some of my styling!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I want your boot collection and your coats are pretty awesome too!

    ReplyDelete
  15. bravo! so well said. you are my inspiration. x

    ReplyDelete
  16. I DO have wishlists - thinks that are MY taste; I DO have wardrobe staples - thinks I LOVE and that work for me. I do have gaps in my wardrobe - but they are afordable and dob't dominate my life. And I DO wanna live in the UK to join your blogger meet up! ;)

  17. What fun pics from your incredible wardrobe, you gorgeous creature you!

Heard it said, "No one's going to die my death so they certainly aren't going to live my life. " I mean whose life is it anyway, right?

"...buy what makes my knees go weak when I see it second-hand..." Right ON, sister!

  18. You know what you're wardrobe needs? A couple of nice fleeces. A navy one and a beige one ooh and a burgundy one with teddies on. Right. I'll bring them with me when I see you on Saturday! Can't fecking wait.
    Loves ya.

  19. Oooh, I so wish I was able to join you next Saturday! I wish I could have read this post from you 20 years ago when I was seized with some inexplicable idea that I had to have "nice" clothing if I was going to get a better job (ie. office as opposed to retail). I spent so much money on clothes I rarely wore and had to be dry-cleaned.

Your winter coats are so cheerful -perfect to banish the winter blahs! I scoop up fun coats whenever I see them at thrift stores. We are the same shoe size but there's no way I could walk in a mile (or even a block) in your shoes ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Your wardrobe looks fab - I love the boot display.
You are so right - there are many more fun things to spend money on than following fashion.
Wish I lived nearer to Birmingham & could come to the meet up. Oh well! I hope you all have lots of fun.xxx

  21. £3.50???? £3.50!!!! I think I shall bring all my boots on Saturday the cheapest re-heel here is fricking £18.

    Fashionable bah, who needs it.

  22. Being comfortable with yourself is probably the best option when it comes to dressing. And you seem to which you also should with your appearance, your self esteem and your wardrobe. Wonderful! And the blogger meetup ... So great!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Obviously, I do want to join you!
It's bizarre that you feel the need to spell this out, what is WRONG with people?! Isn't this endless merry-go-round of shitty fashion bullying obvious?! Frankly, I reckon it'd be cheaper to just sneak over and raid your wardrobe...it ALL makes my heart beat faster!
    Love Helga xxxXXXxxx

  24. I *do* want to join you! (natch). I love that your closet is full of pitter-patters. It shoes when we see you, looking fabulous. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday. xox

  26. I find everything you say in this post interesting. I've had a few people who mentioned at the end of Fraser's pregnancy and to me now while I struggle to fit into some things.....why don't I just go and make a few cheap retail buys. Ummm why would I do that as the weeks past the kg's will come off I'll fit it more of my beloved pieces. So yeah until then I keep rehashing what I've got, clashing patterns trying different things.....thinking outside the box. Just the other day I was wearing yellow plaid and an embroided hippy blouse (which I'll show on he blog tomorrow). Funnily enough that outfit got an awesome compliment of being colourful and fresh.

I agree buy what makes you weak at the knees vintage or not, make it something you'll have fun mixing it with other pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I know what you mean - I read a lot of those blogs lately, what i need for Fall or adopting an age appropriate uniform and getting the same old boring stuff all the time - Expensive statement piece, fuck no!
You took the words out of my mouth sister! Bravo!

  28. Well said, Vix!

I can't see the point in being a clone or a victim, what's wrong with an individual personal style?!!!

I love your signature look, Vix; you certainly have fun with your fab attire couture as you do in life!

    X

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well you always look fabulous whatever the season. I love woollen coats, silk scarves and big toasty jumpers but invariably buy them second hand, luxury on the cheap. I rarely find fake furs though, I need to hunt harder. Xx

    ReplyDelete
  30. Compared to you Vix, I have a fucking great gap in my wardrobe! Seriously, it is lamentable and I started to panic as have nothing fabulous to wear this weekend. But then I decided not to stress and am hoping that I will find lots of delicious stuff in Brum. I don't care about being 'on-trend' (bloody ghastly phrase) but don't want to look boring (which I fear I do) or beige. xx

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, wish I could pop by for a drink and a mega shop this weekend! I don't follow the trends either, and am inclined to think fashion mags make women slaves. I so wish more women had fun with fashion instead of feeling what seems to be a guilty compulsion to buy the next big thing.

But Vix, please give cashmere respect where it's due! As the weather turns cooler, I'm obsessed with finding really, really good cashmere that I can wear for years (after finally tossing a cashmere turtleneck I bought new years ago that literally fell apart from wear). I'm not shopping in the posh and oh-so-pricey Annecy shops, oh no: I'm doing my research and buying on ebay and Etsy, used, and, quite often, vintage cashmere. There's nothing like a good-quality cashmere turtleneck under my many used/vintage blazers. There, rant over.

Your boot collection is covetable. And your coats. And again, that ice-blue dress is sheer heaven on you. That last photo of you and the girls rocks! Xo

  32. Have fun. Best advice in the world. That's what my elder sister always says to me when signing off. I like it.

What a gorgeous medley of photos you've treated us to today. So much lovely colour. I think we'd all like to play dress up with your wardrobe.

I reckon Em has got it right, but she needs to bring you a wolf fleece. I know they are your particular favourite!

Have a blast on Saturday with the gals. Birmingham is in for a treat! xxxxxxx

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes! I hate those 'things you need to buy this season' type posts. I love clothes but I don't love trends. I would much rather spend $5 on something old from the op shop that will last me years than pay $50 for some new badly sewn trend piece made in questionable conditions.

    ReplyDelete
  34. You said it sister! So many people dump thousands into their closet and most of it rarely gets worn or remembered once it gets an outing. I think even gals who don't dress flamboyant could also benefit from second hand shopping.

You collection of clothes makes me weak in the knees and your zest for life is infectious! If I lived in the UK I'd be hanging with you and any of the other blogger gals as often as possible.

You look beautiful in all of these gorgeous outfits but my god woman the top hat is born anew on your head. I fucking love it!

    Xxxxxxooooooo

  35. "Fashion is what you adopt when you don't know who you are." I read the other day that 'the fashion of the moment' can change from one week to the next, their advice 'Never pay full price as it will be in the half price bin next week" How could anyone get so caught up in that nonsense. Darling you would look good in a black bin liner! ♥

    ReplyDelete
  36. hmm I wish I had more of a gap in my wardrobe so I could see wood for trees in all the stuff jammed in there. Sigh! Wish I could come along to your meet up! Will just have to wait for the photos and have fun vicariously. Wise words Vix, wise words. One should buy and wear what one loves. Fashion, though it can be inspirational at times, is often shoved too far up its own behind for its own good.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this post :) Spot on! Also, I am in love with the brown boots next to the blue boots as well as that first plaid coat!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I've enjoyed reading the comments by your readers just as much as I've enjoyed soaking up this wonderful post. You're a walking, breathing revolution Vix. Oooooh and thank you for the tip-toe through your delicious wardrobe! xoxoxo

  39. Great advice - from one who lives it!

Hey - that outfit with the patchwork skirt & green leather (fake?) jacket catches MY eye!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Your approach to life and clothes is much more sane than 'following fashion.' Gosh what a chore to have to follow instead of doing and wearing whatever you please. I can see how every single piece you've shown in this post would make you happy to wear.
Have a lovely time in Birmingham. I'll email you and Curtise about setting something up for when I'm in London. I want to plan in advance to get those cheap train tix!

  41. Holy coat collection!!! I have one coat right now... And I haven't gotten to wear it yet. Hoping it gets chilly enough this winter to bust it out!
Wish I could go to the Saturday blogger meet up!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. This is so true. And a lot of those posts in those blogs (including tedious wishlists) can be downright depressing. Depressed is something I never feel when I come to this blog. I only get inspired by your ability to find buried treasures and your fearlessness when it comes to color and patterns.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't have a clue what a capsule wardrobe is, and don't like the sound of that. It sounds to much like "dress code" to me. Don't understand "seasonal dressing " either. I live somewhere hot, where I can pretty much wear the same stuff for 9 months. All my coats (expect 1 that a made and 1 that was a birthday gift) are second hand. I need a winter coat maybe 3 weeks out of the year and I'm not spending $$$$ on one. Does anything really "go out of style"?

  44. My fav saying ~
"I live in my own little world ...
    but it's okay I love it there ! "
Oh yes I dictate my own fashion :))))
Love that backless sweater ~ you wear it well.
(you wear it all well actually )
    Such fun here.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I always say, where what you want! I still have clothes that I've had for years and don't like to spend too much on clothing, only what I can't make or rather won't make, lol. Speaking of which, I need to get back to altering my blazer in the works. You look radiant as always Vix. The blogger meetup also sounds like loads of fun!. :) xx/Madison

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well I think its down to personal choice everyone has their own idea of what they like and want to wear.

I think people have to accept what others what to wear too. I am not a fashion follower as such I wear what I like and what I think suits me. Personally I like Squirrel print jumpers because thats what I like BUT that does not make me an idiot or a fashion slave. I just like it and like I said its up to the individual. xx

    ReplyDelete
  47. Gulp. That shawl. Those boots. Those coats... There's so much here to feast on. How I would love to join your meet-up. Maybe one day.
As for fashion, you said it!! Wobbly knees is the true measure of value.

    ReplyDelete
  48. You are sooo right. I really don't like all these newtime fashion bloggers that constantly show their newest fashion & makeup hauls, chasing every silly trend and never finding their own style. Fashion becomes more and more like junk food. See it, like it, consume it, throw it away. That's horrible. Fashion should be more like a dinner with friends, with 7 courses and great wine.
I really don't understand this junk fashion mentality, since I kind of build up relationships with my clothes and just love the challenge of mixing them up and finding new combinations I like.
I love your photos that are just showing sparkling charm and the fun you have by creating your outfits. There should be more bloggers like you :)

    xoxo,
    Saperlotte

  49. you're bright like a ray of sunshine, so inspiring and funny, love your great attitude about all that 'fashion police' hitting us to stay fashionable. So delightful to see you enjoying your so pretty clothes!, oh yeah, you rock your fake fur coats and colorful pieces!!
    besos & enthusiasm

  50. Oh!!You know how much I'd love to meet you and Curtise, I hope to figure in one of these mystical meet ups sooner or later!! I do agree on everything you wrote here!! I love designers, I consider them as artists sometimes, but who can afford their clothes? Well, not me, and if I could have the money I'll prefer to travel to meet you and all my friends around the world! I ADORE and LOVE your wardrobe and I'm trying to recycle and buy second hand first, but I should be more tidy just like you!
    Love xxxxxx

    ReplyDelete
  51. Your words are so true. I remember when I got my first full-time job thinking: now I can afford to buy new clothes instead of second-hand. It didn't take me long to work out that the new clothes weren't half as good as the old ones.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I've got to admit I used to follow trends & look forward to the seasons next big thing, but my love for vintage transcends all that now. I think following the trends is so unimaginative & frankly boring. Whereas you constantly inspire me & I dream of playing dress ups in your wardrobe. I'm dying over your boot collection! Wishing I could join you wonderful ladies at the weekend. Xx

    ReplyDelete
  53. Well said! Although I must admit I'm also a size 7 and can never find shoes in charity shops, everyone up here seems to have wee feet! :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Amen to that! I don't buy second-hand very often as there aren't any such shops where I live but at least I try to save some money by purchasing sale items at the end of the season - if I like a piece I don't really care it will be 'out' next time I wear it ...
Thank you for the inspiring post!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi there! You really can't beat vintage and secondhand coats, the quality is indeed so much better than modern stuff and I'm actually looking forward to the colder weather to wearing my new to me faux furs too! Great collection of coats and boots! xx

    ReplyDelete
  56. So glad to see you up and around and looking glamorous!
You've written so well about this and I agree with so much of it, so thoroughly. We can all benefit from buying less, buying smarter, recycling, renewing, restyling. And especially where clothing is concerned, there's little that should ever go into landfills ... with the possible exception of old underwear that's too threadbare for dust rags. Maybe. I'm sure there are uses for them as well.
You are sure right about adamantly avoiding loveless purchases. I've promised myself this year and onward that I won't buy a thing that doesn't merit a complete love affair. Only long-term relationships.
I'll always love new ideas, and new takes on old ideas, but as you demonstrate, the best ones keep turning up again and again.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Vix your excellent! And its so true, even myself I find looking for the next best thing to buy. I know now that I get the most happiness in living, not have a closet stuffed with clothes i cant afford and don't wear!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I always wondered the same thing, why do you want to wear the same thing that everyone else can get their paws on? I like being an individual because there's only one of me and I do hate spending money.

I was bullied my entire childhood because my parents couldn't afford Levis jeans and such that was modern at the time, I was wearing second hand the whole time and I didn't mind and why the hell should they?

The only thing I buy new nowadays is underwear and I wear my vintage rags with pride! :)

    Love this post honey.

    ReplyDelete
  59. aaagh, I'd so love to join you for a blogger meet up (but am away this weekend). One day...one day...
But on to the substance of another 'Vix's straight-taking style sense' post - yes! It's style that you love, not fashion as a construct, and you've found the style that you (and we, as observers) revel in. Don't ever change. You're simply wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh Vix! That maxi dress that you are wearing next to the sign "Hippies to the rear door" is THE EXACT same fabric I had a dress made of!!! I remember it because I had a photo taken wearing it, draping myself over the First Husband. Won't say what year it was, but you know how old the dress is!

  62. Oh man, I'd love to come but am going on a hen weekend.would much rather come blogging!!! I sneaked out of a wedding to a vintage fair in Nottingham and really hoped I'd see you there. Sadly didn't but bought two live, totally not in fashion dresses! Sod fashion(though I am partial to squirrel related clothing!!!)

  63. You look fantastic and anything in your closet is much more amazing that what is displayed on the runway for Fall. Seriously, I saw what they are offering. You have the gems already, no need for anything new. XOXO

    ReplyDelete
  64. Your boot and coat collection made me go a bit weak.

You are gorgeous in that floaty violet gown! Stunning! Then necklace you are wearing with it is fabulous. Rugged with soft.

I love your attitude. I couldn't agree more about constantly "needing" new stuff. We don't. It's simple.

I've come to love thrifting. It's a challenge and like you wrote, whatever you find is more likely to be unique than anything in the shops.

    Great post.

    bisous

  65. Love all these pics Vix, but especially the one of you in your top hat, that's classic Vix I think, with a smile on your face. One thing I'll probably never have is a gap in my wardrobe! I'm sentimental about clothes so find it really hard to throw things out. I'm with you on finding a good old fashioned cobbler, Cumbernauld finally has one and I'm just hoping he gets enough business to keep going because he's so much cheaper and does a much better job than Timpsons. This blogger meet up sounds like it's going to be a good one, but then they all sound good, hope you all have a magnificent time and I'll enjoy reading all about it. xx

  66. The shawl is wonderful and I am loving the top hat. You go girl!

  67. I adore all your clothing and footwear. You always look head turningly stunning!

Most of my clothes are secondhand but for my sins, I do occasionally buy new.

Have a lovely meet up xx

  68. Well said Vix!!! Oooh can I buy your tartan coat ll xxx

    ReplyDelete
  69. How I WISH I was coming to that meet up!! You are so right though Vix - most of my wardrobe is op shopped, from clothes swaps or made by me. I occasionally splash out on a new frock, but its usually something made by an indie label, rather than anything "Up to the minute". When I was younger I did follow fashion, but now I wear stuff because I think its rad, not because I'm MEANT to. I mean apparently I'm not MEANT to dye my hair black, but I've been doing that for 5 years and everyone always tells me what great hair I have - so to hell with fashion and putting people in "boxes" of whats "in right now"

  70. What a stunning collection of clothes. It's all gorgeous!
Hope I can catch you guys on Saturday.

  71. I've never had an interest in fashion and wearing what's "in" and never will, life's MUCH easier this way :D Love all of your clothes/outfits, they always inspire me to experiment more. I'm a simple sundress/flipflops and go kind of gal.

  72. I can't tell you how good it is to read your posts. I would say visiting your blog (you!) has made a more positive difference to my outlook on life than anything else in years. I only have to call to mind some insightful thing you said and I feel much better!

    I think you're fabulous!

    Thank you.

  75. Yes, yes, yes. I agree with everything you've said! Wear whatever you like. That's the answer and there is no question about it. Who cares if it's in season, in style, or in anything. You always look divine. It's feeling good that matters and that comes from within primarily and projects outward.

You remind me of all that matters.

  76. I linked to your post today, hope that was ok.

Really like this post. I made a joke on my blog that
I found some gaps in my wardrobe?! Shock horror. But I fully agree with your 'wear what you love'. And plunder the Ages! Why do new-to-you clothes need to be brand new...Reading your posts is so refreshing. Thank you, Vix xx

I just wrote a post on a similar topic, although not all my clothes may be vintage or second hand, im always wearing and remixing the same pieces ive had for years and trying to think up new ways to wear them .. and wear what i want to wear, what i think looks good on me and what i feel comfortable in not whats on trend.

  79. Truer words never spoken Vix. I see clothing as an expression of who we are, so it has always amazed me that people will change their clothing seasonally as dictated by the Anna Wintour's of this world. WTF? Ps Loving the sheer lavender number. x

  82. in my case I really do have a limited wardrobe, "nothing to wear". I've gained so much weight over the past year. But I realize that's my problem and completely my fault so I don't whine about it.

  83. I love that first shot. Mint velour, yes please! The misty lavender blue one is gorgeous, have I seen it before? Wouldn't mind a cashmere jumper and some new season clothes, better see what the chazzas have!

  84. Blogger meet up? :Sniff: I agree 100% about wearing what you love. I have vintage pieces I purchased close to four decades ago still going strong, then I have high-end designer pieces I will never part with, along with things bought in cheap chains that never seem to die. Sod whats "in" I wear it all, sometimes mixed all together! Like I said when we met up, I have so much I won't buy just anything anymore. As you said it really has to make me weak in the knees to come home with me! May the world catch on to wearing what you love and ignoring those stupid lists! XXX PS was just looking at top hats now I def need one!

  85. I just had to read this post again because I love it so. First of all, you are 100% correct. Secondly, classic pieces? What are those anyway? What is the obsession with the white tailored button down shirt anyway? I am not a fan of white shirts(because I can't eat red sauce and not deposit it on said white shirt), I rather wear my sushi shirt every day because it makes me so happy. Finally, your boot collection is to die for, as are your coats. I suspect I'll come back to this post to visit them time and time again.

  86. Amen, Vix! Not having to "keep up" means I'm always the front-runner because it's about STYLE, not fashion. Love this post so much. Also, I wear the same size shoes (just sayin'). Hello, pretty boot collection...
