The Anatomy of an Ask [INFOGRAPHIC]

One wrong move and the alarms … will … sound.

Sound epic? That’s because it is. When you were a kid, shaky and uncertain hands would make the alarms sound in the game “Operation.” Brush up against the side of the game and your turn was over.

And as a nonprofit professional today, the game Operation is a whole lot like the big fundraising ask. One wrong move, and you could blow it. But if you understand what your audience is looking for and how to ask for donations, you’re one step closer to fulfilling your NPO’s mission.

When you were young, you couldn’t control winning and losing. But now the tides have turned. What’s it going to be? An uncertain ask (sure to make the alarms sound), OR an ask that is well-prepared and carefully executed. That’s what we thought. If you chose a carefully executed ask, check out the infographic below designed by our Interactive Media Strategist Devin Thomas. Click to enlarge the infographic.
