Manchester City are weighing up signing Girona striker Portu.

The attacking midfielder, 25, has been outstanding for the LaLiga surprise packet this season, helping the minnows to seventh place on the LaLiga table.

City enjoy a formal partnership with Girona and agent Gianfranco Cicchetti has revealed to Tribalfootball.om that City are now exploring signing Portu this summer.

Discussing City's alliance with Girona, Cicchetti confirmed Portu is a target for the Premier League giants.

The Italian, who manages several players currently in the Segunda Division, said: "I think that it is a great idea from Manchester City. Through the Spanish club, the Citizens will have the chance to take many young players who are growing: like they are already doing with Portu, a potential crack.

"They will have the chance to facilitate the arrival of extra non-EU players also."

City defender Pablo Maffeo, meanwhile, has impressed with Girona and Cicchetti saw plenty of the youngster in the Segunda last term. Maffeo came to the notice of the world's media earlier this season with his man-marking job on Barcelona star Leo Messi.

Cicchetti added: "Maffeo, for sure, is the crown jewel of this project: one of the best young defenders in the LaLiga. He could be a potential star of Manchester City over the next years."
