Tornado brand home playground tube slides with port holes

Product description

This recall involves Solowave Tornado brand home playground tube slides with port holes. The slides are green, 1.8 or 2.1 metres (six or seven feet) long and have three or five port hole-style plastic windows in the sides. The slides were sold with Solowave’s Centennial, Centennial II, Lexington, Rocky Mountain Deluxe and Sheridan play systems and were also sold separately. Solowave Design is stamped on the outside of the slides near the middle of each tube slide section.

Hazard identified

The plastic port hole-type windows in the tube slide can break, posing a laceration hazard to children.

Solowave has received 2 reports of minor injuries to children, including cuts and scrapes, from contact with broken port holes in Canada and 21 reports of minor injuries in the United States.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these slides.

Number sold

Approximately 9,892 play systems or slides containing port holes were sold in Canada and approximately 10,800 in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from December 2008 to August 2013 in Canada and from February 2008 to August 2013 in the United States at various stores.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Canada.

What you should do

Consumers should stop using the recalled slide immediately and contact Solowave to receive a free repair kit for the port hole windows.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission’s website.
