Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for Cooks I who prepare, cook, present, and serve food to patients, staff and visitors at the Medical Center. The Cook I is responsible for preparing regular and specialized diet food in large quantities; frying, broiling, baking, and steaming foods such as eggs, potatoes, vegetables and meats; performing tasks such as cutting, cleaning and slicing fruits, vegetables, meats and other foods; preparing salads, desserts, special diet food items, individual and bulk nourishment and tube feedings; setting up items for cafeteria salad bar; setting up and serving food on patient trayline; and assisting in preparation, serving and cleaning up for special functions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
1) Background: Applicants selected for this position must pass a background investigation, which includes verification of employment and education.

2) Physical: This position requires lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, squatting, and reaching.

3) Certificate: Incumbents must obtain a San Bernardino County Food Handlers Certificate within two (2) weeks of appointment.

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of full-time experience (within the last ten (10) years) of large quantity food preparation in a hospital, school, military, correctional facility, hotel or similar large institution serving 100 persons or more at a time.
