Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and LEM Products Distribution.

5-Tray Food Dehydrators

Product description

This recall involves 5-tray food dehydrators. The dehydrators are gray and are made of plastic and metal. The model number 1009 is on a label located on the back panel with the company's contact details.  The "LEM" logo is embossed on the top of the unit, which has a panel with the digital timer, the on/off switch and a temperature control knob.

This supplemental recall involves units with UPC code 73449410094 of the 5-tray dehydrators that were part of the May 2013 recall. These units had Corrective Action Plan (CAP) repair kits installed by LEM between June 6, 2013 and September 4, 2013. Only units within the serial number range of 20110506 through 20121008 and a sticker "Read Manual before Operating" are included in this supplemental recall. See the last image in the recall notice.

Hazard identified

As a result of the repair kit installation process, damaged wiring in the recalled food dehydrators may come into contact with a metal bracket inside the machine, posing a shock hazard.

Neither Health Canada nor LEM Products Distribution has received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these dehydrators.

Number sold

This supplementary recall involves 24 units in Canada and approximately 3,034 units in the United States.

Time period sold

This supplementary recall only pertains to units that had Corrective Action Plan (CAP) repair kits installed by LEM between June 6, 2013 and September 4, 2013.

Consumers should stop using the dehydrator immediately and contact LEM Products Distribution for instructions on free shipping and repair of the recalled product.
