Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for Cooks II who prepare, cook, present, and serve food to patients, staff, and visitors at the Medical Center. The Cook II is responsible for preparing regular and specialized diet food in large quantities; roasting, broiling, frying, steaming, baking, and boiling meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods; recommending new menu items and substitutions to existing menu selections; overseeing the work of other cooks and food service workers; ensuring foods are prepared, presented and served in a timely manner; and maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary work environment while following established guidelines.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

 
1) Background: Applicants selected for this position must pass a background investigation, which includes verification of employment and education.

2) Physical: This position requires lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, squatting, and reaching.

3) Certificate: Incumbents must obtain a San Bernardino County Food Handlers Certificate within two (2) weeks of appointment.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Twelve (12) months of experience preparing large quantities of food in an acute care hospital or large institution (such as a hotel, school, or correctional facility).

Desired Qualifications

The department seeks a dependable candidate with experience leading kitchen staff in the preparation of large quantities of food in a healthcare setting. The candidate should be able to resolve problems and make decisions independently; meet deadlines; possess a working knowledge of advanced kitchen equipment and electronics; and adjust to unexpected changes in schedules, menus, and staffing in an effective, professional manner.
