Ese Oruru’s abductor, Yunusa gets bail after 4 months

Yunusa ‘Yellow’ Dahiru, the man accused of kidnapping 14-year-old Ese Oruru, has been granted bail and released from custody after more than four months in Okaka Prisons in Yenegoa, the Bayelsa state capital.

Dahiru was immediately taken to Kano after his release alongside his team of lawyers who usually fly into the state during court proceedings.

Furthermore, despite reports that no Bayelsa citizen was willing to stand surety for Dahiru due to ethno-religious reason, his bail conditions were actually met by an indigene of Bayelsa.

The presiding judge in the case, Justice Ajiya Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court, Yenagoa, had granted stringent bail condition to Dahiru; a N3 million bail bond and two sureties in like sums but must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

Also one of the sureties must be a civil servant on Grade Level 12 or above and the other surety must be a traditional ruler.

Dahiru’s lawyers had had a tough time freeing their client from detention.

The trial will continue on September 13, 2016, when the victim, Ese Oruru, will be cross-examined by the defence.
