Today’s post is one of those types of posts.

This is the day that those who call ourselves Christians remember the death of Jesus on the cross.

It might sound strange, but Christians call this day “Good Friday.”

origin and meaning of good friday

Why is it called “Good Friday”?

Why would this day be a day that Christians call “good” when it’s a day he died?

It’s because Christian believe that on that day Jesus died for the sins of the world.

Why? As Jesus said it himself in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world…”

Someone once described it in this way…

“It’s Good Friday. Good because 2000 years ago the events of today prove that we matter to God.” — Unknown

How it is celebrated

Most Christians celebrate this day by taking time to remember what this day signifies.

Many also will do this by participating in Good Friday services at noon or on Friday evening.
