Rdio has partnered with Brazilian media company Grupo Bandeirantes, with the latter incorporating the former’s streaming set-up into some of its own online platforms, and promoting the service via its print and broadcast media.

“This partnership is a major innovation in music distribution in Brazil”, explained Antonino Ruggiero, Vice President for Business Subscription of Grupo Bandeirantes. “Streaming music is a reality that will revolutionise the way we listen to and share music”.

Rdio CEO Anthony Bay added: “As we have said publicly before, global expansion and localised customer experiences are key focuses for Rdio. Brazil is one of the most dynamic countries in the world with a vibrant music culture. In fact, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are among the top cities for Rdio users in the world. We’ve had success in establishing a unique customer value proposition with our partners in other territories, and this partnership allows us to create a more diverse, all-encompassing listening experience in Brazil that travels from radio to TV to online to mobile”.

This announcement follows Rdio’s recent acquisition of Indian digital music service Dhingana, and forms part of an interesting strategy for Rdio’s global expansion.
