The United States Department of Labor (DOL) has released a new version of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) poster. The DOL indicates, however, that the 2013 version remains in compliance.

The DOL announced on April 25 that a new poster would be released. A DOL spokesperson indicates that the poster was updated to put the explanation of the act into plain language and to make the poster more legible.

The April 2016 version uses bullet points rather than paragraphs to explain leave entitlements, benefits and protections, eligibility requirements, and leave requests. A bulleted list is also used to explain employer responsibilities.

Employers may display either the new version April 2016 or the 2013 version to comply with the FMLA posting requirement.
