Justin Bieber Accused Of Attempted Cellphone Theft

His Monday fun-day apparently ended in a bummer scene.

[Editor's note: This post has been updated to reflect new reports, including an eyewitness who disputes the victim's claims.]

We just finished telling you about what a fun, epic Monday Justin Bieber had (even if some of us didn't think he pulled the Indiana Jones thing off).

But apparently we missed one item: an alleged attempted cellphone theft. According to CNN, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed that the incident took place Monday night and that officers interviewed the alleged victim on Tuesday night.

TMZ reported that Bieber allegedly committed attempted robbery on Monday night at the Sherman Oaks Castle Park -- the place where he appeared to be bragging about his mini-golf skills -- after a woman saw the singer and his entourage getting into it with some other men at the batting cages.

TMZ later posted an update, however, quoting an employee at the Sherman Oaks Castle Park, who claimed to have seen the entire exhange between the pop star and the woman, who the employee described as the aggressor.

According to TMZ, "The employee says the woman was definitely the instigator, being overly aggressive and ignoring security's requests to stop snapping pics. She says Bieber was upset, but never got physical with the woman in any way ... and definitely didn't try to grab her phone."

The unidentified woman told TMZ that she refused to hand her phone over after snapping pics of the star, so Bieber allegedly reached into her purse and took it, which led to a wrestling match with JB over the device. She claimed Justin tore the phone from her hand and tried to erase the pics but couldn't because the handset was locked.

When Bieber, 20, handed the phone back and insisted she unlock it to see the photos, she reportedly did so and revealed she hadn't taken any. A spokesperson for Bieber could not be reached for comment on the incident at press time. The woman later filed a complaint with the Los Angeles Police Department, who interviewed her Tuesday night. At press time no charges had been filed.

Bieber clearly wasn't dwelling on it, flying to Oklahoma City for Tuesday night's NBA playoff game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

It's just the latest legal entanglement for Bieber, who is still facing potential felony vandalism charges in an egging incident involving his former neighbor and a DUI case in Miami.
