SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — Someone threatened to kidnap a 14-year-old girl unless she sent back nude photos through a smartphone app, according to police reports.

The girl and her father reported Tuesday that the 14-year-old received the threat through the social media website Kik.

Police reports say investigators requested an "Emergency Disclosure Request" form from the Canada-based company because of the kidnapping threat.  Detectives said on Wednesday they have not yet received the information they requested from Kik.

Police reports say the girl received the message at about 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday via Kik, a smartphone messaging system that allows people to send and receive messages and photos without using real names or phone numbers.

The person sending the message told the girl he knew her full name, age and the school she attended. The person on Kik also sent photos of the family in their front yard that had already been posted on other social media sites, police reports say.

The person messaged the girl that he "had five other girls" and that she would be next if she failed to send nude photos, police reports say.

The girl said she had no idea who sent the messages and has had no disagreements or altercations with anyone, according to police reports.

Several other incidents involving Kik have happened in South Euclid in the past few months.

In April, an unknown man sent sexually explicit photos and videos to a 15-year-old girl through the app. The same person also sent similar messages to the girl's friends, police reports say.

In March, a 10-year-old boy sent threatening messages to a 9-year-old classmate through the app, including threats to beat the boy up over a girl they both liked, according to police reports.

Photos of a gun, a knife and a bomb were included in the messages.
