The Office of the County Counsel is recruiting County Counsel Research Attorneys I who will learn to perform general and specialized legal research and analysis.
 
Duties include: researching difficult legal questions and preparing memoranda, documents and pleadings; reviewing case files; researching legal issues and making recommendations to department staff or clients; advising department staff or clients on difficult legal questions regarding specialized areas of law, and confer with attorneys, court personnel, witnesses, judges and county managers with respect to procedural and substantive legal issues and requirements of individual cases.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
Background: Applicants must pass a  background investigation, including fingerprinting, prior to appointment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Promotion: County Counsel Research Attorney I may be promoted to County Counsel Research Attorney II upon receipt of a satisfactory work progress report and must be promoted within 24 months or be terminated.

Minimum Requirements

License: Must be an active member of the State Bar of California.
